After
several
attempts
and a
lot of
frustration
with Nero,
and older
tutorials
I came
across
this easy
fix.
It uses
the built
in CD
burning
in Windows
XP. This
BIOS is
for a
x2 2.2lite
+
If you
have a
different
chip that
requires
a different
size BIOS,
then change
the BIOS
file size
accordingly.
What
you need:
* Windows
XP- Home
or Pro
* 1MB
BIOS file
(renamed
to bios.bin)
I used
the x24979.06
* 100MB
Dummy
file
* CD-RW
( I used
an Imation
4x speed)
* CD burner
(obviously)
:)
* This
is a tutorial
for use
after
you have
installed
a preflashed
modchip
that has
a Cromwell
BIOS on
it, and
is when
you boot
you're
Xbox,
is asking
for "BIOS
update
CD".
*
1. Make
a folder
on your
desktop
(name
it Bios)
and put
your 1MB
BIOS file
in there,
and rename
it bios.bin.
2. Next
make a
100MB
dummy
file-
this is
what I
used.
http://mynikko.com/dummy/
This program
is free
and very
simple
to use
and understand.
Enter
100MB
for the
file size.
I checked
the "random
file content"
box.
It will
create
the file
in C:\dump.txt
3. Next,
copy that
"dump.txt"
file into
the folder
you created
on the
desktop
where
your bios.bin
file is
located.
4. Now
you should
have your
1MB bios.bin
file and
the 100MB
dump.txt
file in
the folder
on your
desktop.
Almost
there...
Make sure
you have
a CDRW
ready
to go
in your
CD burner
drive.
(preferable
new unused
media)
5. Now,
open that
folder,
select
both files
CTRL +A,
right
click,
go down
to "Send
to"
and select
D: or
E: whatever
your
drive
letter
is for
your CD
burner.
6. Windows
XP will
now notify
you that
you have
file ready
to be
written
to CD.
7. Open
that window,
if will
show your
2 files
that are
ready
to be
written.
Select
"Write
these
files
to Cd"
in the
top left
pane.
8. XP
will burn
the files
to the
cd
Thats
It! No
messing
with all
those
stupid
Nero settings
anymore.
The CD
worked
the first
time in
my Xbox.
You may
have to
try the
CD a few
times,
depending
on what
type of
DVD drive
your Xbox
uses.
Note:
I haven't
tried
this method
yet with
any other
files,
but chances
are this
will work
with burning
other
install
CD's (EvoX
installer,
etc.)???

know if
this works
for you:
