How to Network Xbox and PC to the Internet using
-Cable/DSL Modem
-2 Network Cards
-Windows XP

What you will need:
-Cable/DSL MOdem
-2 Network Cards, Installed
-1 Patch Cable
-1 Crossover Cable
-Evoloution X Dashboard Running on Xbox
-FTP Program

1. Connect your modem and Xbox to the computer
-Connect the modem to the first network card using the patch cable
-Connect the Xbox to the second network card using the crossover cable
-Open any Internet browser to check if your computer is accessing the internet
-If not, shut down the computer; re-boot the cable modem then re-start the computer

2. Configure the first network card (the one connected to the modem)
-Click Start
-Click Control Panel
-Click Network Connections (in classic view)
-Click on the network card that is connected to the modem
-Click properties
-On the This connection uses the following items: list, highlight Internet Protocal (TCP/IP)
-Click on Properties
-On the General tab check Obtain an IP Address Automatically and Obtain DNS Server Address Automatically
-Click OK
-Click on the Advanced tab
-In the Internet Connection Sharing list, check Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection
-Click Settings...
-In the Services category, check FTP Server
-Click OK
-Click the General tab
-Click Configure
-Click the Advanced tab
-In the Property list highlight Link Speed/Duplex Mode
-In the Value list click 100 Full Mode
-Click Ok

3. Configure the second network card (the one connected to the Xbox).
-Click Start
-Click Control Panel
-Click Network Connections (in classic view)
-Click on the network card that is connected to the Xbox
-Click Properties
-On the This connection uses the following items: list, highlight Internet Protocal (TCP/IP)
-Click on Properties
-On the General tab check Use the Following IP Address
-Enter 192.168.0.1 for IP Address
-Enter 255.255.225.0 for Subnet Mask
-Leave blank for Default Gateway
-Click Close

4. Setup your FTP
-Chose any FTP program
-Install it on your computer
-In the Evolution X dashboard on the Xbox click System Utils
-Click Settings
-In the Ntework category make a note of the IP
-On your FTP program create a new connection
-Name it whatever you want
-Enter the IP Address that you obtained from your Xbox
-Set the port to 21
-Enter xbox for username
-Enter xbox for password
-Remember: If you disconnect or re-boot your modem the IP address may be reset. If this occurs, go into the connection properties and edit the IP Address to match the new address of the Xbox.

Note: this configuration also works perfectly with XBConnect

Note: by using two network cards you save up to $75 over using router
