Convert your Retail xbox to Debug xbox with Dashboard XDK 4627 (v0.1)

Tutorial written by : TwinSSen

Files you need:

EvolutionX (with ftp support on)
FlashFXP
The Microsoft Xbox XDK (June 4627)
XBOX XDK (BIOS and XDK Launcher and Dashboard 4627 cracked) <- Complex Release

Todo:

1) backup your C and E of your XBOX with FlashFXP
2) Empty completely C and E of XBOX
3) Upload contents of the Complex Release to your xbox
4) Flash the supplied complex bios (in the Complex xbox xdk release)
5) Reboot, if all went ok you should see this screen:
So type in your desired name:

See all is installed with DHCP:

If you see the xbox error screen after rebooting you did not have a good debug eeprom installed.

Defeated "problems" :

*) Fixed 512kb adressing by adding the A18 wire to pin 1 of my AMD29F040B flash.
This is a 512kb sized flash. When i looked into the contents of the Complex debug bios (the 1MB bin file) i found out it was mirrored twice instead of four times!
So this wil not work on a 256kb flash!. With a 29F040 wired upto A17 only. See this quote:
[qoute] The two unused points are only two additional Adress-Lines for the Chip (with which you can access everything beyong 256 kByte) ... so they are NOT needed. [/qoute]
But we DO want to access everything beyond 256 kb!
I used Bunny's photo to draw my arrow to A18.
Connect one extra wire from your 32pins Flash to the A18 you see on pic below:

As you can see i can easily change my bios, best for debuging/testing :-)
To fit good i cutted a plastic flap back of the dvdhousing.
If i want to play my ORIGINAL Halo i need to put in my "original" Evolution D6 chip back,l because the Complex1.02 bios can't handle original's.
"Normal" RW's is no problem to handle for this bios...

What you can do now:
* Screen Capture (see the nice shots i made in this tutorial)
* Movie Capture
* Fully Remote Debug
* Automaticly transfer/execute your xbe to xbox with Visual c++ 6.0
* Remotely execute xbe's
* Remotely reboot your xbox
* Xbox Neighbourhood in windows :-)
* Lot of more cool features :-)

Wow looks nice heh! :

I suspect that the system may be incapable of running anything BUT XDK compiled applications. I can take no responsibility for anything that happens to your Xbox as a result of attempting to change it over. Do so at your own risk… however, for those brave enough (or with $200 to blow) to try, you may be able to create a dual BIOS system with a Modchip BIOS and the Debug BIOS – if you do so successfully, please give back to the community with a document detailing the process, as I did with this document.
[/qoute]
Ok BenJeremy, hope your satisfied with my document. I saw in your tutorial to delete the debug configuration in VC++, this is really no need to do this.

There is a lot to tell about setting up and configuring Visual C++ 6.0 maybe i can tell it in future tutorials if you liked this one...
Thanks to everyone who writen those great tutorials on xbox-scene.com you inspired me very well :-)

Best regards,

TwinSSen
