News From Team Xecuter: X2.1, X3 and more
>> Here some information coming from Team Xecuter. We picked out the new information for you:
All vendors will receive stocks of the X2.1 modchips around the 28th of May.

X2.1 LITE
-----------
2 hyper blue led's to show correct power through the LPC. Oh yes and it looks cool too
No jumpers. Comes with new external switch connector which has been designed to fit underneath the front lip of the XBOX - also gives an LED to display mod enabled / disabled

X2.1 LITE PLUS
-----------------
Features as above.
Includes Pogo set to be compatible with all boards including the new v1.2 d0 layout.

X2.1 PRO
-----------
Features as X2.1 LITE.
Also includes new separate switch module so the LPT programming port is at the back and switches at the front. This enables the mod to fully operate without the FCC cable being connected.

Chameleon Cromwell Bios Release
---------------------------------------
This is the Linux bios that has the raincoat functions built into it. Its GPL so the source should be released soon - here's a link to download it yourself anyway. Also includes all the EvoX functions to operate the Chameleon.
http://www.teamxecuter.com/forums...

X2Pro DOS/Win9X/Win2K/WinXP released
-----------------------------------------------
This is the final version of the X2 PRO flashing app which now works in raw dos mode - so you can create your own boot disc and flash from that - without having to worry about windows LPT problems. Its also a great tool to troubleshoot if you are in fact having problems in windows - this will help you find if you have a LPT BIOS setting problem or a Cable problem. Also works in Win9x / Win2k & WinXP

neXgen News
--------------
No its not dead - its just been slow due to some of the coders having real life issues. It's back on track and will be released when ready. There is no rush and no one should be emailing and posting demanding this and that, and throwing insults. This is a free project and will only be released once the coders feel its ready - they don't want to release more betas as before due to many of you not understanding the term "Pre Release Alpha" - so all that bashing and insult throwing (from guys who spend half their time reading C++ For Dummies and not understanding it) has given them the attitude to just not being bothered. You'll see it soon though - its looking great

Avalaunch News
-----------------
We're happy to have worked with thee guys recently - they're a great team and you can expect huge things from them very soon. They will also be including the FlashX code into their dash and I'm sure Team Assembly will join us in offering to pump up the dash with some healthy features as we are doing with neXgen. It's going to be a great summer for dashboards !

Xecuter3 News
----------------
We don't want to get dragged into this too much but we'll make a small statement
The project is a few months old now - work is almost complete and you can expect to see prototypes quite soon. Its very advanced stuff compared to what we are currently seeing. It will be the most feature packed and professional piece of hardware within the XBOX Mod market. It's not just your basic chipset - we've spent a lot of time and money to get this thing working just right - we hope you will enjoy using it as much as we have enjoyed making it.
Regarding features I can tell you that yes it has every feature of all mods out there right now of course (inc all mods that haven't been released officially yet) - plus some new stuff that no one seems to have attempted or have been able to afford to develop (as its quite expensive and time consuming to get right).
Before you ask no its nothing to do with XBL - we'll never touch that as the cheats will ruin it - and no its nothing to do with HD sizes. All we would like to say is that it handles things MUCH MUCH faster and much more "intelligently". You'll see what we have only when its ready - we don't want to keep you hanging on for months - I can assure you from official announcement to sale will be no more than 2 weeks - not 5 months.

Videogame Giant Electronic Arts Links With Sony, Snubs Microsoft
>> From The Wall Street Journal:
The next great battleground for the $27 billion videogame industry is online games -- and there, Electronic Arts is about to throw its considerable weight behind Sony Corp. Tuesday, it plans to announce that when it takes the long-awaited step of putting its biggest blockbuster sports games online, they will be only in versions for Sony game machines.

The exclusive deal shuts out rival game-machine makers from access to the popular EA Sports line in its new online form. It's a particular rebuke to Microsoft, whose Xbox competes with Sony's PlayStation 2. In its drive for a dominant role in online games, Microsoft tried again and again during the past 18 months to persuade Electronic Arts to add its games to Microsoft's own online game service. But Electronic Arts executives decided Microsoft was demanding too much control over Electronic Arts' games and wasn't willing to pay the company for their use.

Xbox prices stand pat ? *updated*
>> Posted earlier today on CNN.com:
LOS ANGELES (CNN/Money) - Microsoft has opted against any current price cuts for the Xbox, choosing instead to focus attention on upcoming games and enhanced features for the online component of its console gaming system.
Industry analysts and retailers had wondered whether the company would lower prices before the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) starts later this week. Microsoft did not address pricing in its pre-show news conference. But before the news conference show, J. Allard, vice president of Microsoft's Xbox platform, discussed the issue with CNN/Money.
"The focus is to expand our audience," he said. "So for us, we're not focusing on price. ... At $199, the Xbox is flying off the shelf. Right now, we're confident."
Posted a few minutes ago on reuters.com:
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Sony Corp. lowered the price of the PlayStation 2 video game console to $179 in the United States ahead of the introduction of an updated version next month, a company spokeswoman said on Tuesday.
In order to clear out inventories of the existing unit, Sony Computer Entertainment of America spokeswoman Molly Smith said retailers were informed of a change in pricing.
The new PS2 hitting shelves next month at $199 includes an adapter for online game play and modifications to the hardware that allows it to play home-made DVDs. That version of the market-leading console was announced at a press conference Tuesday morning at E3, the video game industry trade show in Los Angeles.
Now let's see if MS will revise their strategy...
update: Some readers warned us ebgames.com also lowered price of the xbox to $179, but so far there's no official press release from MS yet - and other shops are still selling the black boxes at $199.

MAMEoX v0.63b
>> What's new/fixed:
Split the ROM listing off into a separate XBE file. This leaves us with some room to make major interface improvements (beautifications) without affecting the MAME core. More importantly, this insulates us from any memory leaks in the MAME core (when some ROMs ran out of memory during bootup, they wouldn't release everything back to the system, which kept other ROMs from running).

Other changes are fairly minor:
cheats are (theoretically) enabled, by request :)
Sound popping may be slightly improved, there are still buffer underruns, but I kludged it by clearing ahead 1 frame's worth of samples to 0 so its at least not old data.

More news about Xecuter2.1 modchips
>> In NFO-file of XFlash v1.0, Team Xecuter also included more info about the design update to their Xecuter2 modchips. With the new design the X2L+ (no solder modchip with pogo pins) will also be compatible with Xbox v1.2!
We have redesigned X2 LITE, X2 LITE PLUS & X2 PRO. They now all have hyper blue LED's for coolness and also to show power to the mod is working through LPC. Also they all have new external switches which can be placed to the from of the XBOX and will have an LED to show mod enable / disable. This includes the PRO which still has the LPT port at the back but is now seperate from the switches - so its now possible to have a full functional mod without having the FCC cable or LPT port connected at all times (it can be used as normal connected of course). Also the X2 LITE PLUS is now v1.2 compatible also. The design changes are soley to finish the X2 line. The changes are the results of much user input from you guys. These will be on sale sometime in May at your usual stockist. We now feel that the mod is as good as its going to get with its current technology - its now time to move onto the next chapter in the Xecuter story ...

FlashX v1.0
>> A program made by Team Xecuter to flash your X2 modchip on your xbox

With Flash-X you can now select which bank you wish to flash whether its 256k, 512k or 1MB. Gone are the days of a bad flash, now you simply program 256k or 512k at a time.
Installers who like to hot swap and flash their X2's will be pleased to hear that the machine does not reboot once you have flashed - so you can simply flash / hotswap / flash / hotswap much faster than when the xbox rebooted each time you flashed.
You can select bios's stored on C D & E drives
Compatible with Xecuter2 Lite, Xecuter2 Lite + and Xecuter 2 PRO.

This version does not support real CDs. There are a different set of technical hurdles involved with PSX cds than with SegaCD and PCE CD/SCD. I was finally able to get the XBox to read XA sectors, but it reads them much too slowly for anyone to want to play games using it. (Reads about 2.5KB per second)
For now, create BIN/CUE's of your PSX games and either copy them to your HD or burn them to DVDR/CDRW. Your BIN and CUE files should have the same names.

When you select the BIN file to load, you will be presented with an options menu. You can start the game using one of two different BIOS methods. Using an actual BIOS file for the emulation is the most compatible, however it's a little slower than HLE. Try both and see which one works best for the game you're playing.
