x360 Music Organizer v0.01 beta
>> MahoppianGoon released x360 Music Organizer v0.01 beta:
[QUOTE]
Here is a small program I've been working on only since July 4, 2010.
It was originally going to be a music organizer for custom music on your Xbox 360, but I soon realized how difficult that 'mindex.xmi' is to read, so I gave up on that for now.
Right now it just creates a NEW 'mindex.xmi' file and the 'FMIM' music files. (maybe one day it will be a full music organizer, don't know just yet)

Description:
+ Create a custom 'mindex.xmi' file and 'FMIM' music files!
+ Automatically creates the 'mindex' and 'media' folders!
+ Creates a NEW 'mindex' folder and 'mindex.xmi' file, so backup your current 'mindex' folder on your Xbox 360 first!
+ Tested with 50 songs, and all worked perfectly. So you should be able to add as many songs as you have space (limit might be 25,000)
+ Even though you can only add 1 artist/album right now, you could use the 'Filename' as the 'Song Title' and then make Playlists.

Joe Danger Dev: 'XBLA is a slaughterhouse for smaller devs'
>> From 1up.com:
[QUOTE]
Hello Games chose to make Joe Danger a PlayStation Network exclusive, apparently because the indie developer lacked faith in Xbox Live Arcade.

"Why choose PSN? It was the only way we could self-publish," he said. "XBLA is kind of a slaughterhouse for smaller developers. There are games that do amazingly well. But there's two titles released every week and a lot of those are falling in that 25,000 or less category." Murray used his own independent figures, which he noted aren't official. He claims 47% of self-published XBLA titles sold less than 25,000 copies, 23% sold around 100,000 copies, 13% sold 200,000 copies, and 17% sold more than 200,000. Joe Danger sold 50,000 copies on the PSN in the first week alone.

Microsoft: New Xbox 360 'S' In Development for Two Years
>> From pcworld.com:
[QUOTE]
* GO: At what point did you turn on the old model and decide it was time to rethink the design?
* AP: It's a tough question to answer. There was always the concept from the beginning that if you're going to be in market for 10 plus years, at some point you're going to want to refresh the design. That's just part of the game industry cadence, to do redesigns during the life cycle as components gets smaller and power consumption goes down. So I think from the very beginning there was an idea, and I'll call it a very vague idea, that we were going to do something.
I think this particular project...I throw out two years, give or take, just because when you're doing a redesign like this, it's not something you decide months in advance. We wanted to get the quality there and make sure we got it right, so we were probably planning this for about two years, give or take.

* GO: The aesthetic parities with the original Xbox are striking. The X-shape, the beveled vent on the side--it almost looks like a lither, sleeker original-style Xbox.
* AP: That's exactly what we were trying to do. Really the design goals were to retain the iconic Xbox shape. We talked a lot about that inhale, the center power button ring of light as the dominant image on the front of the console, the inhale shape. We wanted this to look like an Xbox 360. We wanted to unmistakably maintain that iconic shape.
But we were, as I always kind of remind people, at this point in the lifecycle of the original Xbox, launching the Xbox 360. So you sort of take cues from what more modern designs are. Where is automotive design heading, what's going on with television and entertainment centers. We wanted a sleeker, more modern and refined looking console that was still iconically an Xbox.

Rumor: Xbox 360 Slim Arcade details outed by Amazon Germany
>> From examiner.com:
[QUOTE]
Microsoft has said that an Arcade version of the Xbox 360 "S" (aka Slim) was coming but hasn't provided any hints on what it would or wouldn't have and hasn't given a general release date beyond later this year. Now a listing at Amazon's German website may have let some of those details slip.

The new Xbox 360 Arcade will come with 4GB of memory according to the Amazon listing. This could be internal flash memory but the listing says "Bundle" which indicates it might be a USB thumbdrive.

The Slim Arcade is due out on August 20, 2010 in Germany.
They price the new console is listed in Euros at €148.99 which translates to $187 and change. The $199.99 retail price in the United States is unlikely to change for the new Arcade.

Analyst: Microsoft could get 1 billion USD from Xbox Kinect
>> From seattlepi.com:
[QUOTE]
Kinect, the upcoming motion and voice control add-on for Xbox 360, could bring in $1 billion for Microsoft in its first year, an industry analyst said Monday.

Sandeep Aggarwal, an analyst with Caris & Co., said in a research note that the device, which is expected to sell for $150 when it's released Nov. 4, will generate $2 billion in industry revenue, with 50 to 60 percent going to Microsoft itself.

Aggarwal expects 15 to 25 percent of current Xbox 360 owners to buy Kinect within the first year. At 15 percent, that could bring in $900 million in sales. Then he figures Kinect will generate 1 million extra console sales for about $300 million.
