CXBX
>> "cxbx is a program that converts a raw xbox game into an executable PE (.exe) file, so that eventually it can be played on your PC. It is unsure what the system requirements will be to play these translations, but almost definately your CPU will need to be a P3, and you will most likely need a GeForce card comparible to the xbox's.
cxbx is fairly young, so there are no visual results at this point. There is a lot of work to do, but I am fairly certain there will be success in this project. At this point, you can download cxbx, run it on your xbox game(s), and view the layout of how an xbox game works using your favorite .exe file viewer."

Atari 2600 on Xbox
>> An Atari 2600 emulator (Stella) has been converted for Xbox (thanks to xboxhacker.net for the news) "This is a port of Stella 1.2 for the XBox.
Obviously, I ripped the menu code from Mame-XBox. Credit goes to opcode for that.
At the moment, there's only one bug that I know about : from time to time the audio will drift and get garbled. It only lasts about 10 seconds though and then everything is back to normal. If I get some more time, I'll try and address that issue.
The only other improvement I might add is a cheat-code finder.
It takes a while to load up, so be patient.
Enjoy!"
For information about Stella , go here (the Xbox code can only be found on some irc channels)

Messiah-X news
>> China-messiah posted the MX Prototype diagrams online.
"Take note that Messiah-X prototypes and production versions are shipped as '11-wire versions', therefore it is not necessary to connect point 'B' on the device. The upgrade should be mounted using sticky pads to affix to the consoles mainboard."
"No special instructions are required to operate the Messiah upgrade, all features are automatic and no jumpers for configuration are required etc. The MX upgrade can be installed in any version console, MX will read the bios version signature of the console, and correctly load and apply the necessary control information automatically. Simply insert the disk and play !"
Evolution-X Video

EvolutionX
>> I found this thread on the xboxhacker forums :
"Greetings all XBOX fans, i am here to tell you about our XBOX software which some of you might find interesting.

EvolutionX and BIOS will be released within a week or so, and everything will be absolutely free!
The EvolutionX team are not associated with any other groups.
Regards
The EvolutionX Team"
That's a bunch of hard things to code , let's hope it's real and no lame scam. UPDATE: The special EvolutionX BIOS will probably only be needed if you want to install a new HDD , all other features *should* work with a normal modchip too.

Openxbox pictures & 10wires
>> Here's another picture of an installed openxbox mod I found on the openxbox.de forums.
Like you see there are 10wires instead of 9. But there's a very simple explanation for this. The 10th wire is optional , it's used for the retailBIOS/openxboxBIOS switch with the reset & on-off button. If you don't want the feature to switch between retail & openxbox BIOS you will just need 9wires.

X-ecuter's reply on TheReg article
>> From X-ecuter :
"May we point out that we are not affiliated with Enigmah, Xtender or any other group out there. We're just doing this for fun to show it can be done. We also chuckle at the amount of incorrect information that is in this article - especially when they talk about the devlopment kits :)"
Xbox mod-chips still on the menu
>> There's a new article about xbox modchips on TheRegister :
"Last week we reported on Xbox mod-chip group Enigmah's decision to withdraw its product from the market, citing a consultation with lawyers as its reason for pulling back from the legally delicate area of console modification.
However, it transpires that Enigmah hasn't cancelled its mod-chip plans after all, and the team has merely renamed to "X-ecuter" in order to launch a new chip. This is significantly easier to fit than previous efforts – so easy, in fact, that anyone with a basic knowledge of soldering could do it (unlike previous Xbox chips or the PS2 Messiah chip, which required precision micro-soldering equipment to fit)."

US$ 200,000 for Linux on the Xbox
>> I found this on xboxhacker.net :
"Anonymous donor will award US$ 200,000 for Linux on the Xbox
Munich, July 1st 2002: An anonymous donor, whose identity is known to the Xbox Linux project leaders, has announced to award at total of US$ 200,000 for the completion of various tasks on the Xbox Linux Project until December 31st 2002.
The basic goal of the project is to find a simple and completely legal way to run Linux on the Microsoft Xbox.
The whole project is divided into two sub-projects, the first one consisting of four tasks.
Project A: Porting Linux to a modified Xbox: Task 1: Replacement BIOS (software/hardware) Task 2: Kernel and XFree drivers Task 3: Kernel logic: FATX and miscellaneous Task 4: XBE bootloader Project B: Xbox hack without any hardware modification
A total of US$ 100,000 will be awarded for the completion of each of the two projects.
The money will be distributed by the anonymous donor either upon completion or after the deadline. Since their identity is known to the project leaders and well-respected, all participants can be sure that the money for goals that will have been reached will of course be distributed.
It is important to note that people who have already contributed to the project before July 1st 2002 can of course get money for their existing work as well.
The exact roadmap containing all task descriptions, the suggested amounts of money awarded for the different tasks of Project A and all rules can be found on: The Xbox Linux Project website."
For more information , check the The Xbox Linux Project Page
X-ecuter news
>> X-ecuter took over our modchip comparisontable and the interesting part is that they filled in some of the missing/unsure info!
So we now know X-ecuter will have automatic BIOS version detection and it will probably be possible to upgrade (flash) X-ecuter too. The mod will contain 2 chips and will be placed on a pcb.
Looks like a great mod : it will have all features , only 1wire to solder and a price under $40. I hope it won't take too long before they are on sale.
Pandora : diagrams + news
>> Pandorachip just posted the diagrams on their website.
They also announced that the chip will only have 11wire instead of the previously announced 12wires and that reset function works fine on their mod.
For full specs & diagrams you can also check our modchip page. You can buy pandorachip here
We hope we will receive a sample soon so we can test the mod :)
New Contest : 5 XIOS modchips
>> We're giving away 5 XIOS modchips (Xtender 1.1 clones) offered by the online modchip store genomods.com.
