JoyStiq/Engadget E3 Interview with Peter Moore
>> JoyStiq/Engadget posted an new interview with Peter Moore. Here's a short excerpt:
* JoyStiq/Engadget: There does appear to be a gap in quality between that [Gears of War] and everything else. It's just head and shoulders above. We're wondering if there are other titles that will match that by the time they come out.
* Peter Moore: Quality of gameplay, graphics, depth, immersion? It's all subjective. I'm biased on all of them. Games like Crackdown: different visual style, different genre. But, it's coming together really well. Mass Effect. I was on some blogs last night where people are spending some time on it and are really impressed with it. Dave Perry and a few other people wrote some really strong stories about Mass Effect. That's a weird question ... I mean, which of my children do I love more?

* JoyStiq/Engadget: To hammer this one more time: do you really think that the cell phone itself can compete against the likes of the DS and the PSP?
* Peter Moore: The cell phone at its current structure... as they evolve now. [Pulls phone out.] This is a smart phone from HTC. You start getting this level of functionality -- you know the deal -- you've got the same thing. You've got 16 by 9 aspect ratios, you've got pretty decent screens, I look at this and I think, "geez, you could probably get things on the capability of Genesis or the old days on this pretty well. I will never be able to play things like this. I just can't do it. I also prefer to use the soft key pad because I can go faster with the stylus. But yeah -- the Chairman said so. The Chairman says so, believe me. I haven't been at Microsoft long, but I know when the Chairman says so, things happen.

Assassins: Creed PS3 Demo at E3 Running on Xbox 360 ?
>> We don't really have much to back up this story except that it was posted on IGN for a short amount of time:
Ubisoft Montreal revealed its next incredible project, Assassins: Creed, exclusively for PlayStation 3 at E3 this year, much to the delight of Sony console fans and to the dismay of Microsoft consoles fans. Ubisoft officially would not comment on a possible Xbox 360 version.

According to sources close to the company, however, there are potential plans for an Xbox 360 version at Assassins: Creed sometime in 2007. Additionally, Microsoft sources who asked not to be mentioned by name, claimed the demo, hidden behind closed doors at E3, was running on an Xbox 360 using a third-party USB PlayStation controller. The game system was hidden in a stand covered by a sheet. Again, Ubisoft officials would not comment.

Was the article removed because it was false or because IGN got a call from Sony or Ubisoft? Guess we'll never know. Still a funny story to start the weekend ;)

Rumor: New Microsoft Xbox 360 Accessoires Priced?
>> We already gave you full description and press pictures of the new upcoming Xbox 360 accessoires from Microsoft, and even some real-life pictures.
Now joystiq.com comes with a rumor of the retail price of these items:
Thanks to a reliable source from Microsoft, we've learned some important details about the new peripherals announced for the Xbox 360, including pricing and a few Halo faceplate (non)specifics. Check out the leaked info and prices below:
* 360 wireless gaming receiver (which enables wireless 360 controllers, headsets, and wheels on your PC): $20
* Wireless racing wheel: $130
* Wireless headset: $60
* Xbox Live Vision Camera (with headset, one month of Live Gold, and one arcade -- presumably Xbox Live Arcade -- game): $40
* New faceplates for Halo (with the Master Chief on 'em, but not Halo 3 specific) and Forza (no word on connections to the sequel): $20 each
* 256 MB portable memory unit (MU): no official price yet, but definitely not four times the cost of the older 64MB MU

We've speculated in our recent podcasts as to what would happen to the various 360 SKUs when price drops inevitably occur. An interesting theory bandied about by prolific Joystiq Contributor epobirs was that a $20 price drop for the Core system, coupled with a $20 price drop on the 64MB MU, would finally allow folks to pick up a capable non-Premium bundle for the original $300 Core price point. (Not a bad way to undercut PS2 memory card prices, too.) We hope to get official confirmation on this info in the not-too-distant future.

Xbox Dashboard Update Confirmed for End May
>> From xboxic.com:
We got confirmation from Boris Schneider-Johne (Senior Product Manager Xbox Platform and Accessories, Microsoft Germany) that a huge Dashboard Update will arrive at the end of May!

Features include background downloading and having multiple downloads at once.
The user marks a file to download and it will be put in an active queue downloadlist. There are 6 slots reserved in that queue. They will be downloaded sequentially not in parallel! If the Xbox360 sees there is bandwith available it will boost the download speed up. During online sessions the downloads will be paused to garantee no lags. It's also possible to turn off the console, after powering it back on the downloads will resume. When a download finishes the user will get a message that it has been downloaded.

He also mentions that there will be a lot more features in there but it will be a surprise and he won't talk about it!

Logitech Unveils DriveFX Wheel for Xbox 360
>> With all the news about the Wireless Racing Wheel Microsoft will release for the Xbox 360 we (and many others) kinda missed that the guys at Logitech also announced a Racing Wheel for the Xbox 360. From the official pressrelease:
Logitech today unveiled the Logitech DriveFX Wheel, the company´s first licensed wheel for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. Logitech´s newest gaming companion combines high-quality materials and advanced axial-feedback technology, delivering Xbox 360 owners the best possible driving experience.

"Our wheels have become the driving companion of choice for gamers on many platforms because of the sensory experience delivered by our feedback technology," said Ruben Mookerjee, Logitech´s director of product marketing for interactive entertainment. "Without feeling the bumps in the road and the impact from other cars, the standard racing game experience can be pretty superficial. With our axial-feedback technology, the Logitech DriveFX wheel delivers the most realistic driving experience for Xbox."

The Logitech DriveFX Wheel uses axial-feedback technology -- with a powerful motor built into the base of the steering column -- bringing new levels of realism to Xbox 360 racing. The DriveFX wheel translates the feedback commands of the game into axial forces that make the steering wheel respond realistically to the car´s dynamics, creating a sensory experience similar to that of a real steering wheel and column. Conventional Xbox driving wheels use small vibration motors embedded in the steering wheel grips, offering an unrealistic buzz in the driver´s hands. With Logitech´s axial-feedback technology, gamers will feel the road, curbs, and the impact of other cars.

To further create a realistic driving experience, Logitech designed the 10-inch diameter wheel as a single, durable piece of molded plastic, using a gas-assisted injection molding process. As one sturdy part, the wheel feels especially rigid and high quality. Without any seams, joints or edges, it delivers the most realistic feedback on the Xbox 360 platform.
The all-black wheel features two rubber grips that completely encircle the steering wheel rim, offering a secure and comfortable grip. The wheel also features gas and brake pedals on a weighted base, two wheel-mounted paddle shifters, and a full set of Xbox 360 buttons for menu navigation and game setup.

Pricing and Availability
The Logitech DriveFX Wheel will be available beginning in July in the U.S. and in Europe. Its suggested retail price in the U.S. is $99.99.

E3: Peter Moore on Xbox 360 - and the competition
>> From gamesindustry.biz:
Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz at E3 this week, Microsoft's games boss Peter Moore discusses his reaction to Sony and Nintendo's conferences, and Microsoft's own plans for the future of the games business

* GI: You say you'll have exclusive content for GTA4, but will Rockstar also be making exclusive content for the PS3?
* Moore: You'd have to ask them that. They're not going to tell me what they're doing. I don't know, I mean, how good are they feeling about the power and strength of the PS3 online network? What development environment are they working on right now, what size of installed base?
I'm sure Sony's going to come up with something, but the proof of the pudding is in the tasting on this thing. We're there, we're going to be at six million by next E3, our attach rate is phenomenal. It's not just that early adopter any more - by having the Silver tier in there, by removing credit cards... As of last night, we now have a thousand pieces of downloadable content on Marketplace.

* GI: Looking away from what's coming this Christmas, and more to what's coming in the next six months - you've got six months to get to a stated goal of ten million units by the time Sony launches in November...
* Moore: That's assuming they get to market in six months.

* GI: Assuming that, yes. Let's take them at their word for now. How are you going to get from where you are now to ten million units, when your launch schedule on software doesn't really look that strong over the coming months?
* Moore: You don't like Gears? You don't think Gears is....?

* GI: I think Gears looks great, but Gears is one game. One game doesn't get you to ten million units.
* Moore: You don't think things like, certainly in this country, having Madden coming up there first in next-gen and hi-def for us; Splinter Cell; Saints Row.... From our point of view, even Viva Pinata, which people are going to underestimate, I think. You don't believe that that, on top of everything else we've already got in the market right now... I don't know. It's a rhetorical question. You don't believe that we can hit 10 million, so we need to reconvene over a pint in London in December when we'll look at the numbers again. I believe that we can, so it's a subjective call.

Microsoft sides with Nintendo in fight vs Sony
>> From Reuters via yahoo.com:
Microsoft Corp. sided with rival Nintendo Co. Ltd. on Wednesday in the fight to unseat video game leader Sony Corp., saying many consumers will choose to buy both of their machines for the price of one PlayStation 3.

"Tell me why you would buy a $600 PS3?" Peter Moore, a Microsoft vice president, said in an interview. "People are going to buy two (machines.) They're going to buy an Xbox and they're going to buy a Wii ... for the price of one PS3."
Moore then turned pitchman for Nintendo's Wii, the latest offering from the Japanese company that once dominated the video game industry.
"People will always gravitate toward a competitively priced product -- like what I believe Wii will be -- with innovative new designs and great intellectual property like Mario, Zelda and Metroid," Moore told Reuters.

"We have 100 percent market share of the next-generation, and their job is to take that from us," said Moore.
"When I think on everything that we've got going right now that is real versus what Sony promises to do six, seven months from now, obviously we feel very good about where we stand."

Xbox 360 Live Vision.Camera has Studio-like Light Requirements
>> From xbox360fanboy.com:
I was pretty eager to get my hands on Totem Balls, the first Xbox Live Arcade title to make use of the 360 camera for gesture-based gameplay.
Unfortunately, it turns out the still-unpriced Xbox 360 camera has the same studio-like light requirements as the Sony EyeToy, making the game basically unplayable in the dim, romantic glow of the Xbox Live Arcade booth -- much to the chagrin of the Microsoft staff on hand. Despite keeping the gaming press in the dark until the emergency floodlights arrive, they claim it's a superior product.

Pioneer Introduces Full Circle Audio Experience for Xbox 360
>> From the press release:
Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. brings the gaming experience full circle today with the introduction of a 5.1 surround sound speaker system officially licensed for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system. To match the more than 1.5 million Xbox 360 game consoles already shipped, Pioneer's new high performance surround sound speaker system, the HTS-GS1, elevates gaming from stereo television sound to a high powered, multi-channel home theater audio experience.

"Game makers put the same amount, if not more, detail in audio quality as they do in the video graphics of the game, which emphasizes the need for an audio system that's up for the challenge," said David Bales, marketing and product planning manager of audio products for the home entertainment division of Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. "The HTS-GS1 delivers the same impressive sound accuracy to music and video played through the game console for an unbelievably versatile entertainment experience."

Gamers with limited space will appreciate the system's compact speakers and integrated 6-channel receiver subwoofer, which delivers a colossal 600 watts total system power (RMS), 155 watts total system power (FTC) for robust, three-dimensional audio. The receiver subwoofer offers advanced connectivity with all five-speaker connections, 3 digital inputs (1 coaxial, 2 optical), an analog input, tuner, and control ports located at the back of the subwoofer. The receiver subwoofer system can be monitored with the separate display that is included.

To ensure the gamer is in the center of the action, the HTS-GS1 features Pioneer's proprietary Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration System (MCACC) typically found in Pioneer's higher-end A/V receiver. MCACC utilizes a room calibration microphone to adjust each speaker for distance, volume and room equalization. The self-calibration feature delivers sound to the listener's ear at the same time, at the same volume level and digitally compensates for a wide variety of room induced acoustic inaccuracies. The result is no-hassle, real time sonic three-dimensional acoustic accuracy for games, video and music.

Universal Media Remote Control
The Xbox 360 offers a number of digital entertainment features, including progressive-scan DVD playback, CD ripping, the ability to stream content such as music, photos and video from portable music players, PCs running Windows XP Home or Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, as well as access to downloadable games and entertainment content from Xbox Live Marketplace. The HTS-GS1's universal media remote control features the Xbox Guide button, Media Center button, cursor and enter, as well as the Y, X, A, B control buttons. The remote operates the Xbox 360 multimedia capabilities, Windows Media Center (through the extender capabilities in the Xbox 360), as well as the HTS-GS1 and the reset TV function for times when the Xbox 360 is being used for things other than gaming.

Additional system features include:
* Built-in DTS(R) and Dolby(R) Digital Surround Decoders via the three digital inputs
* Dolby Pro Logic II for analog or 2 channel digital sources
* Sound Retriever for improved sound quality of compressed audio files stored in the consoles' hard drive or networked from a home PC
* Front Stage Surround for a 5.1 surround experience even with all speakers placed in the front of the room
* Eight Advanced Surround Sound enhancing modes: digital surround processing for enhanced sound from your music, movies, theater, TV, sporting events, games, virtual surround and 5-channel stereo
* SR+ Terminal for integration and control of the surround sound system when connected to a Pioneer PureVision plasma TV
* FM/AM Presets

The HTS-GS1 has a suggested price of $499 and will be available in June 2006.

Xbox Pirates Plead Guilty
>> From informationweek.com:
A co-owner of a Hollywood, Calif. video game store pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court to participating in a conspiracy to violate federal copyright laws by pirating and installing video games on specially modified Xbox game consoles sold through the store.
Jason Jones, 34, of Los Angeles, a co-owner of ACME Game Store, pleaded guilty in a Los Angeles federal court in Los Angeles before United States District Judge Edward Rafeedie. Jones' partner -- Jonathan Bryant, 44, of Los Angeles -- has signed a plea agreement and is scheduled to plead guilty to a conspiracy count on Monday.

Jones admitted in court that he and Bryant modified Xbox game consoles by installing more than 50 pirated games on each machine. Jones had Xbox machines running as demonstrators in ACME Game Store, and he described in detail to customers the advantages of the modifications.
Jones is scheduled for sentencing on August 7. The statutory maximum sentence for the conspiracy is five years in federal prison and a fine of $250,000, or twice the gross gain or gross loss resulting from the offense.

Gesture Recognition on Xbox 360 with GestureTek's Technology
>> From the official pressrelease:
GestureTek Inc., the world leader in computer vision for gesture based control of information and entertainment systems, today announced that Microsoft has licensed GestureTek's video gesture control technology for use with the Xbox Live Vision camera for Xbox 360. A library of GestureTek's basic Video Gesture Control tools will be made available to all Xbox 360 developers who are part of the XDK program, allowing the opportunity for innovation and personalization to the gaming experience. In addition, GestureTek Inc. will shortly release an advanced library of Video Gesture Control tools to Xbox developers for adding more sophisticated gesture control features.

Standing in front of the Xbox 360 camera, gamers will interface with games using natural full body gestures, while immersing their real time image into the game. As part of Xbox Live, the gesture technology will enable gamers to customize their game experience while socializing in their game worlds in ways they never could before. GestureTek Inc. will be demonstrating its gesture recognition on the XBOX 360 at the E3 expo.

Imagine standing in your living room as you snowboard down a mountain, where leaning right and left lets you cut across the slopes, and springing upward guides you over jumps. Camera enabled gaming combined with motion control technology is endless in application, whether it is a game of volleyball, playing along with the music on virtual instruments, fly fishing, shooting hoops, goal tending, dodging bullets, or even fighting ninja's; the game controller is the gamers own body.

First Shots/Details of Steering Wheel, Headset, HD-DVD, 256MB memcard, Cam
>> We get some additional details and press-pictures about the upcoming Xbox 360 accessoiries announced during the Microsoft pre-E3 Keynote (and more ... like a 256MB memcard) from xbox360.ign.com and the Xbox press site:
* The Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel (release date: fall, price TBD) is in development internally at Microsoft by several members from the Microsoft Sidewinder team. The first-party design has a thick, contoured rubber pad for lap usage, and a sturdy clamp for table usage. The wireless steering wheel comes with F1-style shift paddles and pedals equipped with a medal rim to anchor your heels while playing.
The existing battery life is the same as the wireless controller and, by using the AC adaptor, you'll get force feedback. There are two levels of feedback, the basic rumble motors that pick up wheels on gravel and low-level rumbles, and force feedback, from the actual car performance -- slides, crashes, etc. The same rechargeable unit that works for the controllers works with the Xbox 360 wireless steering wheel. The wheel comes with full Dpad usage, ABXY buttons, and a guide button. It comes in one color, "chill white."

Hands on With the Xbox 360 HD-DVD Drive
>> From engadget.com:
Steel yourself for a shock, but the HD DVD drive was actually looking like it was just going to be a regular 5.25-inch HD DVD drive slapped in a 360-styled external enclosure. Now that you've collected yourself after that bit of hysteria, we can tell you the (non-functional) drive itself had only a power plug (which looked to be of the variety that runs to the wall, no adapter required), a mini USB host port for connecting to the 360, two full USB ports for the device to otherwise act as a USB hub, and a spot for your 360 WiFi adapter to latch on the back since it could possibly be displaced by the use of the rear USB port to get this thing running on the console.

Nintendo Pre-E3 Press Conference
>> Here's a short LIVE coverage of the Nintendo Pre-E3 Press Conference. I didn't do a detailed coverage of this event here as we don't run any Nintendo-related sites.

Here are the major Wii announcements from Nintendo:
Price will not be revealed now. Wii will be released in 4th quarter of 2006, that's all we get.
Motion sensors in both parts of the Wii controller.
There's also a speaker in the Wii main remote controller!
New "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princes" will be released with the console on launch day. Also a version for Gamecube will be released.
"Super Mario Galaxy" ... new Mario game announced for Wii.
Wii will get 3rd party games like: Sonic, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicle, Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam, Rayman, Red Steel, NBA 07, ...
27 different Wii games playable on E3 floor.
They talk about NDS stuff now ... so head over to one of the sites below if you wanna follow that.
Talking about Wii again now ... some Virtual Console info (for old games and new simple/intuitive games). Wii can start up virtual console games or applications in a matter of seconds.
In standby mode the Wii console can still do some key functions (so developers can push new content to you even while you sleep). Wii is a "system that never sleeps" with the "Wii Connect 24" service. "What we are aiming for is a system that is new every day."
"Wii Sports" will be released on launch day: tennis, golf and baseball game in 1 using the motion sensing Wii controller. They demo the game with 4 peopel (1 person from the public) playing tennis in real-time.
Conference is over with the words "playing is believing" encouraging the crowd to test the Wii on E3 floor ... because it's not what you see (the gfx) that counts, but how the game plays.

Full LIVE transcripts of the event are available at engadget.com, eurogamer.net and gamespot.com.

At 12PM PDT (that's 7pm GMT), we'll be here with a LIVE coverage of the Microsoft Pre-E3 Press Conference. So stay tuned!

Microsoft Reaction to Sony Press Briefing
>> From teamxbox.com:
But what is Sony's chief competitor thinking at this point? We were lucky enough to stir up a quick chat with the head of Microsoft Game Studios, Shane Kim, and GM of the Game Developer Group at Microsoft, Chris Satchell.

Our first query to Chris Satchell was to step outside of his competitive structure and simply provide thoughts on the briefing, purely as a gamer. "I'd have to say that I came away a little disappointed.", claimed Satchell. "We really didn't see anything that was innovative - it was the same experiences we've seen before."
When asked to comment on the briefing from a competitive standpoint, Shane Kim elaborated, "I've said this before, but there was nothing from Sony's briefing that would make us change anything regarding our plans. We are very confident in our approach, especially now. We have a much better online story and much better content. Finally, we feel that our superior price point provides us an advantage."

Two areas where Sony demonstrated forward thinking was in the EyeToy card demonstration and the 6-axis controller, but we still question how mainstream these will become. Does Microsoft feel in pressure in being the only next-generation system to not feature a motion-sensing controller?
"We actually had a very similar product on the market for the PC - the (Sidewinder) Freestyle Pro.", Kim recollected. "It was a great controller for a very specific set of games, but wasn't accepted as an overall controller. We considered the technology when developing the Xbox 360, but felt it wasn't the way to go."
Satchell mentioned, "I view Sony's motion-sensing controller more as an attempt to address what Nintendo is doing with the Wii. While I thought the EyeToy demo was cool, I do question if the masses will play a game that way."

Dean Takahashi' Xbox 360 Book Released
>> Dean Takahashi' book "The Xbox 360 Uncloaked", The Real Story Behind Microsoft's Next-Generation Video Game Console, has been released today by online publisher SpiderWorks (available as both printed and e-book).

Here are some interesting articles about this new book:
* An 11-page excerpt at 1up.com.
It reveals such details as how Microsoft turned down the proposal from RockStar to get Grand Theft Auto III exclusively, Bill Gates' original mandate to offer a version of the Xbox 360 with the Windows OS (Project Helium), Ed Fries' decision to sign an exclusive game detail with Epic Games over Valve (tossing Valve's proposal in the trash), and Epic's influence in upping the system's RAM from 256 to 512 MB (by showing Microsoft screenshots of Gears of War running under both circumstances) - which ultimately cost Microsoft $900 million extra and consequently resulted in fewer units at launch.
There are also some interesting details surrounding Halo 2 (like how Ed Fries threated to quit his job if Bungie weren't given to the fall of 2004 to finish the game).
You might also wanna check the part about the Rare buy-out and why Nintendo didn't offer much resistance.
* A 3 page excerpt at next-gen.biz. Next-Gen will post more excerpts later.
* An overview of some interesting points mentioned in the book, also at next-gen.biz.
* Gamasutra.com also has a short overview of the book (including how we might see J. Allard wearing dreadlocks at E3 because he lost a bet about how many PSPs Sony would sell). Gamasutra will have a podcast interview with Dean Takahashi soon.
* GamesIndustry.biz reports how the book talks about a portable Xbox in development, this was already mentioned here back in March. GI.biz said they'll post a full review of the book soon.
* A free eBook preview is also available directly from the publisher: spiderworks.com.

HD-DVD Addon: Connected via USB, Price tomorrow at Pre-E3 Conference
>> Microsoft posted some details about the HD-DVD addon for the Xbox 360 on their E3 2006 coverage site:
Xbox 360, while powerful on its own, is also a foundation from which new technology and accessories can be added. Chief among these is the recently announced HD DVD add-on.
This much anticipated accessory carries with it an extension of the HD Era that Xbox 360 offers, and provides the most visually stunning movie watching experience available.

This new accessory will connect to the Xbox 360 console with a USB cable, enabling it to harness the power of the Xbox 360 console for the HD video outputs and digital surround sound. As an accessory, it becomes another shining example of the flexibility of Xbox 360 designed into the console in order to grow and add new features. It's also just one of several new accessories being announced at E3.

Consumers and retailers can now see the immediate price gulf between HD DVD players and their upcoming competition. If you can find one of the new Toshiba HD DVD players (retailers nationwide sold out when they launched in April) they sell for as little as $499, whereas the expected starting price of Blu-ray players starts at $1,000 and rises rapidly after that.
So what's the suggested price for the Xbox 360 HD DVD player? "Stay tuned. We decided to save that good news for another day, but we're clearly out to make this an affordable option for Xbox 360 owners," said Penello.

Poll: 4 in 10 Americans Play Video Games
>> From nytimes.com:
According to a new AP-AOL Games poll, 40 percent of American adults play games on a computer or a console. Men, younger adults and minorities were most likely to play those games.
Among those who describe themselves as gamers, 45 percent play over the Internet. And more than a third of online gamers spent more than $200 last year on gaming, compared with nearly a quarter of those who don't play games online.
Forty-two percent of online gamers said they spent at least four hours playing games during an average week, compared with 26 percent of those who don't play online. About one in six online gamers play more than 10 hours a week.

The AP-AOL Games poll of 3,024 U.S. adults, including 1,046 gamers, was conducted by Ipsos, an international polling firm, on April 18-20 and 24-27. For the gamers, the poll has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

Free Xbox LIVE Gold Week Begins
>> From majornelson.com:
I just heard from the Live operations team that they threw the big switch that now allows Silver users free access to Xbox Live multi-player for the next week. While the accounts will still 'look' Silver, we enabled those accounts to access Xbox 360 multi-player just like Gold accounts.

Oh, and here's a bonus you won't hear about anywhere else: you can also play some original Xbox Live multi-player games on your Xbox 360 with your Silver account, assuming of course that they are on the BC list. (Note: this won't work with ALL original Xbox Live titles, but it does work with Halo 2.)

The wireless Xbox zombie controller hack
>> From engadget.com:
It looks more like an Xbox controller on critical-condition life support than anything else, but if you're going to do something so already frivolous as whip up a system to allow you to remote control your original Xbox from your PSP or DS, you might as well do it one of the most complicated ways possible -- mechanically (as opposed to electrically). Then again, this hack works not only on the Xbox controller, but just about any controller you can throw at it. Proceed at your own risk of though, we will not take responsibility if your innocent DIY project learns how to play and outgames you LEGO-gamebot style.
